The RUSH Band: Isabel and Henry's Wedding, Askham Hall, Lake District
Often in this job, you get the chance to be part of something special, something that puts a smile you your face because, everyone around you has smile's on their faces - Saturday was just that sort of day!
We provided every part of the Wedding entertainment on this lovely couples big day, and WHAT A DAY IT WAS!!
Arriving at Askham Hall (www.askhamhall.co.uk), in a beautiful part of the Lake District (I didn't know the M6 could be that interesting!), the weather had decided that it had its fun police hat on, and nothing was going to go to plan. It was awful, torrential rain as John and I were unloading the cars. We had been booked in the afternoon to provide music for the drinks reception, together with our illustrious World Record holding Beat Boxer 'Testament', and the weather had decided no fun for you, inside you go!
However, as the ceremony ended, a strange thing happened... a dazzling blue sky, and brilliant sunshine! It was absolutely breathtaking! You could tell it was going to be a cracker from then on! The wedding party really took to our performance, and especially our ace in the hole 'Testament' - pumping out beats and sound effects under John's rhythmic guitar playing, it really added something extra. The evening was eagerly anticipated by all, and as the sky turned darker, the wedding party moved back in to the hall, so the fun could begin, and I thought... what an incredible honour it is to be a Wedding Band and perform in the Lake District!
The First Dance performed by our 5 piece band, and was a great track, 'Say a Little Prayer' sang by Aretha Franklin (written by Burt Bacharach) - its a song I've always wanted to sing, so it was a pleasure to sing it for Isabel and Henry. As the night progressed, the Wedding party were absolutely brilliant!! check out the video by Claudia below of the second dance!
The night reached a climax for us, with the crowd raucously singing each and every song we performed in our second set. I finished the night by DJing some of the couples perfectly selected favourites, It was a brilliant end to the day and a pleasure for the boys and I to be involved, Thank you guys!
When I say I'm lucky to do this job... you can't say I don't mean it!
